CHALLENGE:
eBay jumped headfirst into the crowded holiday advertising pool with a clever "Shop Anywhere" campaign, focusing on the mobile shopping experience of their website. Venables partnered with both The Mill and PacDigital to create the super-sized display ads of phones-as-storefronts, reminding viewers they can skip the hectic malls for digital shopping convenience. How to create impact and deliver on the campaign promise? You advertise where the shoppers go, and in this case—central out of home locations and major transit hubs.
SOLUTION:
Multiple executions focused on both phones-as-storefronts and QR-code packages hinted at the ease and excitement of digital shopping. Images were shot, assembled, and designed to work in tandem. Locally, a BART transit hub takeover added a winter scene for passerby. Large outdoor billboards reinforced the messaging, and online banners targeted the tech segment.
RESULT:
eBay saw a lift for online purchases in the peak holiday buying time year after year, proving that a smart, targeted campaign is the best present money can buy.
