PROJECT:
INTERACTIVE TOUCHSCREEN SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
PARTNER:
GAP
CHALLENGE:
How does one of the country's leading clothing retailers get one of their most reluctant segments to enjoy shopping more? How to innovate in a marketplace filled with distraction and cacophony? GAP approached PacDigital to assist in launching a pilot program of interactive in-store kiosks aimed at convincing men to buy jeans. Herding cats would have been an easier ask, but our development of a touchscreen buying experience made it simple. GAP has since moved on to a regional distribution of program in its LA-based operations, with an eye toward redefining its customer experience.
SOLUTION:
Understanding how men shop became key to launching GAP's effort at digital in-store technology. The goal was to create a seamless buying situation, uncluttered and direct. Our development of a touchscreen-driven interface where the customer chooses a number of lifestyle-related questions, combined with placement in the correct area of the valuable floorspace, leads to the right information being received at the right time. The added ability to cross-sell and upsell on-screen added to the value of the program.
RESULT:
What seemed futuristic only a few years ago is now commonplace. The pilot program has been a hit, and we continue to explore ways in which interactivity at purchase can be made seamless and intuitive.
