CHALLENGE:

New technology continues to improve the mobile user experience, leading smart phone makers to fight for market share by constantly introducing new models—usually by leveraging web video to demonstrate features and usage. What goes unseen is the collaborative dance between creative partners to bring the work to life. Because when it comes to hi-res animation, there's often heavy lifting to be done. In this case, Pacific Digital faced a new, complex mobile device never before seen, a web design firm in New Zealand, a creative agency in San Francisco, and a whole lot of intricate phone animations that needed to go live. Fast.

SOLUTION:

PacDigital was given the new Echo, which we shot in digital photography, modeled, and rendered. The touchscreen device has four configurations, two screens and no keyboard. Needless to say, it required multiple angles to capture its unique benefits. PacDigital carved out a production timetable, pinpointed the deliverables and tapped our assets to start building. On a tight schedule, we created a series of hi-res video animations, essentially the microsite's content backbone. The videos were then shared with web developers several time zones away to integrate with their website UI, which was based on Goodby's creative. Our files not only had to be perfectly built, they had to perfectly fit the site design and platform. 

RESULT:

PacDigital delivered the animations on time and on budget. That was the baseline. The truth is, our CGI was so strong, the site look and feel was even better than expected. PacDigital had supplied imagery that was richer and more usable than what had been hoped for. The take away? When you're collaborating in virgin territory, err on the side of quality.
